K-Day is short for Keweenaw Day and is a longstanding tradition at Michigan Tech. K-Day is on the first Friday of fall semester every year and puts an end to "Welcome Week." K-day is known for many different events and activities for students to get acclaimated to another academic year.
Student organizations head out to McLain State Park and set up displays and demonstrations for students. K-Day is on September 5 from 12 to 4pm. This year at K-Day, there is a lot of free food, live music, and other fun activities.
Students have two choices for getting out to the State Park. They can drive out to McLain or take a bus. Buses in years past have left the Memorial Union Building about every half hour to take students out to the park.
